Spring Cleaning
Hello!!!!
Happy April! If you’re able to open your eyes despite the biological warfare aka pollen count we’re being subjected to, then thank you for reading this. Personally, my eyes, head, throat, and nose have sort of tag teamed shutting down at various points throughout the week because of my allergies, which has kept things exciting.
Along with allergies, springtime is marked by my neighbors erecting their outdoor DJ set up. That has yet to happen so I’m enjoying the few warm quiet evenings before I enjoy a summer of letting them control the aux chord and soundtracking my life.
As promised, here are some pieces I’ve written recently that I’d love for you to read!
I did a deep dive on the gender makeup of celebrity-led book clubs which led me to ask the question… Do Famous Men Know How to Read?
For my Succession-istas, I’ve been writing occasionally about the show. My latest was about the strongest couple in the fucked up Roy family: Connor and Willa. May their love spring eternal.
My dear friend Tallie Medel went to the Oscars and the (spoiler alert) movie they were in, Everything Everywhere All At Once won every single award!! I wrote about Tallie looking for something to wear for the event.
Among the many privileges I am lucky to count, high up on the list is that I work a stone’s throw away from the American Girl Doll flagship store. Every day I get to watch adults sit plastic dolls in high chairs and give them blowouts and braids. It’s really a gift. I wrote about the latest historical dolls that were just released who lived in the ancient era of the 1990’s.
And finally, everyone should read this hilarious piece by Paul Murray for NYMag about what’s actually happening in Facebook’s Metaverse. Spoiler alert: it’s mostly underaged kids talking about poop.
Love and clear eyes to you all! Thank you for reading this sporadic newsletter that I send out when I remember to. Maybe share it with someone this week? Could be just the sort of good deed that turns your week around :)
xoxo
Kady Ruth
P.S.
I am going to be so vulnerable and admit that I’ve had Darius Rucker's 2017 album “When Was The Last Time” on loop for about to month.
